PSG Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side struck two times late to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
