Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
